The international coach speaks about Rasmus Hojlund’s “fantastic” fitness level ahead of Man Utd v Brentford

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has had a mixed time on international duty.

Due to an injury, Rasmus Hojlund was unable to join the Danish team during the international break in September.

Hojlund was ready to be called up for the October internationals – but the Danish coaching staff were deliberately cautious in their management.

And Denmark coach Lars Knudsen gave a positive assessment of where Hojlund stands.

Denmark’s coach announces Hojlund’s verdict

Denmark coach Lars Knudsen has now given his verdict on the Manchester United striker after working closely with him.

Knudsen told Bold that Hojlund’s return to top form was a gradual process.

He explained: “Rasmus must have the opportunity to really get back into the swing of things and he is on the right track.”

Knudsen added: “Rasmus is a fantastic player and he is delivering a great performance. He has a really high level. You have to remember that he just got back.

“It was only his third start of the season and he basically missed an entire pre-season.”

Erik ten Hag has to choose between Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee for Manchester United’s game against Brentford at the weekend.

But there are other fixtures to be planned too, with games against Fenerbahce, West Ham and Leicester due to take place before the end of the month.
