Mark Lawrenson predicts Saturday’s London derby result and doesn’t think there will be much between the two teams.
Ange Postecoglou wants an answer
Tottenham’s second-half performance against Brighton was arguably the worst we’ve seen from the Lilywhites in Postecoglou’s tenure. Even the boss himself seemed to agree with it.
The Australian will therefore wait for a response from his players against the Hammers as Spurs return to their home turf.
The North London side are also expected to be boosted by the returns of Richarlison and Heung-min Son, with Postecoglou hoping the pair will be ready to feature (The Athletic).
Mark Lawrenson’s prediction
Lawrenson pointed out that Spurs dropped points against the Seagulls in the second half, but he expects them to get back to winning ways and edge out their London rivals.
The pundit told Paddy Power about Saturday’s game: “It’s another London game for West Ham and they got a good, much-needed win against Ipswich last time, while Tottenham completely squandered it against Brighton.” But Spurs could make it here.”
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 West Ham.
Statement performance required from Tottenham
Even though Spurs go into this game as favourites, a win alone is unlikely to be enough to allay fans’ fears following their defeat at the Amex Stadium.
Postecoglou’s men will need to put in a convincing performance to convince doubters they are on the right track this season.
