Chelsea’s new crest is a big statement that will anger the rivals’ fans.

Chelsea have bombarded their London rivals with a subtle badge change that is set to anger fans across the capital.

The rivalry between each Premier League club in London is one of the fiercest in the country, with derbies being some of the most exciting games of the season.

With seven of the 20 2024/25 Premier League teams all playing in London, there is often debate about who the best team from the capital is.

But now Chelsea have taken a swipe at their local rivals by making a controversial change to their official crest, which will no doubt anger Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fans.

In March next year, Chelsea will celebrate their 120th anniversary, a huge milestone that they want to celebrate with a brand new emblem.

According to The Daily Mail, the designers of the new badge have described that the purpose of the celebration is to symbolize Chelsea’s status as “London’s true club”.

With this in mind, the club’s board commissioned London-based advertising agency Uncommon Creative Studio to develop the new logo, which features the famous blue lion positioned above the letters ‘LDN’.

The new badge will not replace the current badge. Club insiders insist this would never happen without consultation with fans and would only be used as part of the branding for the 120th anniversary celebrations.

Chelsea submitted its application to register the new badge to the UK Intellectual Property Office in August, giving all other third parties two months to object to the design.

However, the report claims that no objections were raised from Chelsea’s local Premier League rivals or any other party during this time.

Uncommon Creative Studios described the new badge on the social media platform “

Chelsea fans can expect to see the new badge on football shirts, scarves, headwear and other merchandise in the coming months ahead of the anniversary.
