Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard was surprised by what Heung-min Son once said about him.
Is Eden Hazard one of football’s biggest losers?
In his heyday, there weren’t many players more watchable or more devastating than Eden Hazard. During his time at Chelsea he was one of the Premier League’s biggest stars.
The winger could win games on his own and was unstoppable when he performed, as Tottenham found out the hard way on several occasions.
However, following his move to Real Madrid, the winger’s career took a dramatic downturn, with the player finally hanging up his boots last year aged just 32.
Reacting to Heung-min Son’s comments
At the Shoot for Love event, Hazard was informed that Son had once named him the best footballer in the world, leaving the Belgian left quite surprised by this claim.
He was told: “Heung-min Son was once asked who he thought was the best footballer. He said ‘Eden Hazard’.”
Hazard replied: “No, really?!” The presenter then added: “He really did. You didn’t know about it?”
A surprised Hazard then stated: “There are so many better players than me.” I’m one of them – that’s really good. Nice to hear about it. Wow.”
Hazard is a reference for many PL-wide strikers
It’s no surprise that Son is a big admirer of Hazard, as the South Korean operates in the same position as the former Chelsea player.
Son and Tottenham have seen numerous world-class performances from the 33-year-old in the past.
One suspects that many wingers in the Premier League would look up to Hazard as he was undoubtedly one of the best in the world during his seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
