by A Muay Thai fight ended with an illegal soccer kick on Friday and it might be one of the worst endings to a fight we’ve seen all year.
ONE Championship was back for another event, hosting ONE Fight Night 83 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The Muay Thai fight card featured a wealth of exciting fights, including an early affair between veteran Rungnarai Kiatmuu9 and Spanish fighter Mikel Fernandez. Unfortunately for the fight fans in attendance, the strawweight bout ended in disaster.
As expected, the more experienced Rungnarai managed to gain control of the fight right from the start and land some damaging shots. Towards the end of the first round, he finally caught Fernandez with a sharp left hook, knocking him to the ground. At this point, Rungnarai inexplicably launched a football kick that landed directly on Fernandez’s head. The Spanish fighter remained motionless. It was pretty scary.

While this likely stems from a bang-bang moment in a wild Muay Thai fight, it’s still a big mistake. Fernandez was clearly down when Rungnarai delivered a brutal kick to the head. Luckily, Fernandez was able to regain consciousness, but this was one of the most horrific interruptions we’ve seen in 2024.
