Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action with a clash against Crystal Palace on Monday and Paul Merson has given his score prediction.
Nuno Espirito Santo had the opportunity to work with those who stayed behind during the international break to really refine a few things.
Nottingham Forest will be sweating over the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White, who was recently spotted on crutches during a day out in London.
However, his girlfriend stated that Gibbs-White was ordered to carry them as a precaution.
It remains to be seen whether Gibbs-White will be fit in time, but he appeared to be missing from training ahead of the game against Crystal Palace.
Regardless, Paul Merson gave his prediction for the outcome of Monday’s game.
Paul Merson predicts Nottingham Forest’s outcome against Crystal Palace in the Premier League
Forest have exceeded expectations to this point in the Premier League season, losing just once and securing one of the best defensive records.
However, a tough challenge awaits Crystal Palace who can cause problems for any team on their day with Eberechi Eze in charge.
Interestingly, Paul Merson has now given his weekly predictions for all Premier League games, including Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace.
In his column on Sportskeeda, Merson expects the score to be 2-2.
“Crystal Palace is currently having big problems. But I don’t think they are in a relegation battle, from that perspective they should be fine.
“When Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze click, they are fine and safe. But if Leicester win and Palace lose this weekend it will be worrying.
“If that happens, Leicester have a chance of staying up and then you start to wonder who could be the team that will go down in their place. That could put some pressure on Oliver Glasner and his men.
“But at the moment I’m not too worried about Palace’s safety. They have goals in front of them and that should be enough as Nottingham Forest often struggle at home.
“Both teams will try to win this game and there will definitely be goals. That’s why I’m aiming for another draw here.”
Crystal Palace’s record this season
Crystal Palace had a difficult time at the start of the Premier League season, picking up just one point from their first seven games.
Eberechi Eze simply wasn’t able to influence things as much as Crystal Palace fans would have liked and Mateta struggled to score consistently.
However, the Reds need to put their recent poor form behind them as they are one of those teams who can just randomly pick up a gear and go like we saw last season.
The impressive partnership of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo will be tasked with keeping Mateta quiet, while Ryan Yates may have another man-marking job to do with Eze.
